I’ve always enjoyed working with light and atmospheric perspective. Nature has always been my favorite subject. I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty and the complexity of urban landscapes. It dawned on me a few years ago that cities have their own nature, as well as special light reflective qualities.
I now try to, whenever possible, incorporate both worlds into my compositions. I seek urban scenes that have a touch of foliage either in the background, foreground or both. I recently painted a small urban victory garden in the summertime that had all the elements. After discovering a whole new array of acrylic colors, I’m now on a new course.
For the past 3 years, I’ve been working on a series of super stylized landscape paintings I call “Fan Trees”. For these paintings, I’m using some new exciting iridescent acrylics as well as interference colors that impart a pearl-like texture to the paintings.
